En savoir plus

Ce volume représente la suite du 1er volume intitulé : Building Ethiopia. Sustainability and innovation in architecture and design. (2012).

En 4e de couverture

As Ethiopia is home to one of the fastest growing urban population in the world (an average of 5% per annum), an accelerating need for structures, strategies and systems for accomodating this rising demand has become urgent. Through its chairs and laboratories, EIABC has been experimenting on developing methods and systems to contextually and appropriately respond to this current demand. As a result, many projects dealing with design strategies in all scales (architectural and urban) had been undertaken, with the primary aim of delineating not only sustainable urban & architectural systems, but also achieving an adaptable, flexible and equitable urban structure which can accomodate transformations.

The book will present a comprehensive record of all the factors and forces shaping the urban centers of our time in Ethiopia and we believe that the different positions proposed and projected in this book will assist as tools in future planning and design endeavours for emerging cities all around the world.

En premier rabat de jaquette

The first architectural & urban multi authored, scientific book series to be published in Ethiopia, « Building Ethiopia » attempts to record and document the prominent ideologies, approaches, and discoveries of its time within the disciplines of the built environment. It is intended to create a link between the academia, practicioners and decision makers of the building sector, as only the integration of these three actors will bring about the changes and innovations needed to push the construction industry forward. This publication hopes to become a medium through which further partnerships and collaborations within the respective disciplines are forged, as well as a provocative platform for constructive discussions about the NOW and the very near TOMORROW of the architecture of ETHIOPIA, which is loaded with both tremendous potentials and formidable challenges.
