Les Swayne dans la Corne de l’Afrique.
Sir Eric John Eagles Swayne (1863-1929) est un officier britannique au service de l’administration coloniale au Somaliland britannique. Il est l’auteur de l’article « Expedition to the Nogal Valley ».
Harald George Carlos Swayne (1860-1940) est un soldat britannique au service du Royal Engineers, explorateur, naturaliste et chasseur. Il revendique 17 voyages au Somaliland qu’il détaille dans Seventeen trips through Somaliland and a visit to Abyssinia: A record of exploration and big game shooting, with descriptive notes on the fauna of the country.
Frances Swayne est leur cousine. De décembre 1905 à mars 1906, elle rend visite à son cousin Eric John Eagles à Berbera et publie son voyage dans un ouvrage agréablement illustré portant le titre A woman’s pleasure trip in Somaliland.
