Trevenen James Holland - Biblethiophile

Holland was born to a military family in 1836 and educated at Cheltenham College and St John’s College Oxford. He joined the Bombay Army in 1852 and served in the Crimea. He was A.Q.M.G to Havelock in the Persian Campaign [3 times mentioned in despatches]; again in the Q.M.G. Department under Rose in the Central India campaign of the Mutiny; throughout the Abyssinian Campaign as Q.M.G. to Lord Napier [C.B. and mentioned in despatches]. The photograph, clear enough to read the naming on the Abyssinia medal, shows Holland wearing the campaign medals, Al Valore Militare, Turkish Crimea, C.B., Order of St John, Order of the Medjidie, and Legion d’Honneur[1].

Holland (1836-1910) est le co-auteur du rapport officiel de l’expédition britannique en Abyssinie[2] : Record of the Expedition to Abyssinia compiled by Order of the Secretary of State for War.
